Mulched or Collected
The client has the option of having the grass mulched or collected. Collected clippings can be disposed of on-site as compost, or can be removed, leaving the yard free of any debris. However, many people are unaware of the benefits of having the grass mulched.
A significant benefit of returning grass clippings to the soil is the valuable nutrients they provide. They can supply up to 25% of a lawn’s complete fertilizer needs! For every one hundred pounds of grass clippings collected, three to four pounds of nitrogen, one-half to one pound of phosphorus, and two to three pounds of potassium can be returned to the lawn. These are the most important nutrients that lawns require and are found in most lawn fertilizers.
One of the primary reasons people are concerned about leaving grass clippings on their lawn is the development of thatch (linked to glossary of terms). It is assumed that when grass clippings are returned to the lawn that thatch will increase. In fact, grass clippings do not significantly contribute to the accumulation of thatch because grass clippings are about 75 to 85 percent water, which makes them decompose quickly and easily! Mulching grass clippings saves the homeowner time, energy and money and reduces the amount of waste filling up landfills.

Whether the client prefers grass mulched or bagged, professional lawn maintenance ensures total satisfaction by leaving the lawn trimmed and clean. Sidewalk and driveway edging also leaves a sharp, well-kept appearance. Edging can be part of a weekly maintenance service, or part of seasonal upkeep, depending on the preference of the homeowner and the magnitude and style of each lawn. The job is completed by blowing all driveways, sidewalks and porches to ensure that no unsightly grass clippings remain.
