Fall is in full bloom, winter officially arrives on 12-21. There are many
things you can do to enhance your landscape this season. Clean up the leaves
as they fall; this saves time in the spring and enhances your curb appeal.
Plant fall and winter flowers like pansies, cabbage, Kale and many other
flowers you can find at Alldredge Gardens. Now is an excellent time to put
out winter lawn food. This will help your root system get off to a great
start this spring. Also put out pre-emergence weed control now because this
will reduce the amount of weeds you have in the spring. Reset your sprinkler
system to water less frequently. That will save on your water bill and help
to conserve our water supply.

Spicy Sweet Potatoes
.3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
.2 tablespoons of olive oil or canola
oil
.2 tablespoons of brown
sugar
.1 teaspoon chili
powder
.1/2 teaspoon
salt
.1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
In a large resealable plastic bag, toss sweet potatoes and oil. Add
remaining ingredients; toss to coat. Transfer to greased 11x17 x 2 baking
dish. Cook on covered, at 400 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until potatoes
are tender, stirring every 15 minutes.
Yield 8 servings 149 calories, 4g of fat, 164mg sodium, 28 g carbohydrates,
3 g fiber, 2 g protein. Diabetic exchange 1-1/2 starch, ½ fats
